This report will be used by the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) to update its 2016 recommendation for Screening for Depression in Adults and its 2013 Screening for Suicide Risk in Primary Care, and to develop a new recommendation on screening for anxiety disorders.
These findings suggest that depression screening may be feasible in the inpatient setting, and that more research is warranted to determine whether screening for and treating depression during hospitalization can improve patient outcomes.
