The use of point-of-care (POC) blood glucose (BG) testing has been the mainstay for monitoring glycemia and informing treatment of hospitalized patients with diabetes. In hospitalized patients with diabetes, POC blood glucose (BG) testing is commonly performed 3 to 4 times daily to monitor glycemic outcomes and to adjust insulin doses.
