The Schrader valve consists of a valve stem into which a valve core is threaded. The valve core is a poppet valve assisted by a spring. A small rubber seal located on the core keeps the fluid from escaping through the threads.
These valves are commonly used for tire pressurization within the tire valve stem. When a pressurized hose fitting is placed over the tire valve stem the fitting pushes the valve core pin inwards allowing the flow of air to enter the tire. When the hose fitting is removed the valve core’s spring and internal tire pressure closes the valve.
