30 Δεκ 2013 · Philosophy of science provides methods for posing questions about science, scientific activity, and values entailed in such inquiry. Philosophy of science steps back from the details of specific scientific investigations, debates, and controversies and seeks to examine the rational basis for theory choice.
This paper presents an approach to teaching philosophy of science to science students that is different from traditional approaches. It is based on the assumption that modern science has been dominated by a scientific ideal where measurements and mathematics play a key role.
The primary purpose of this book is to enable high school science teachers not only to develop an understanding of scientific inquiry but also to gain an appreciation of the skills, dispositions, and attitudes in creating a “culture of inquiry” within themselves as well as their classrooms.
