In my PhS class, the two main 'philosophies of science' we studied were Karl Popper's, through his "Conjectures and Refutations", and Thomas Kuhn's, through his "The Structure of Scientific Revolutions."
The philosophy of science concerns the nature of science and its relationship to human belief. What is and isn't science? Is there a scientific method? How should we integrate the results of scientific discovery into our personal belief systems? To what extent does science uncover an objective truth?

Philosophy of science steps back from the details of specific scientific investigations, debates, and controversies and seeks to examine the rational basis for theory choice.
