12 Αυγ 2024 · Modern European screamo has its origins in early 90's emo and hardcore punk bands, as we can see it listening to the earliest releases. Practically every band described here is total underground with hardly avaivable releases anywhere and it means I've put quite a lot of effort to find these obscure gems.
It combines the melodic guitars and emotional nature of emo with the intensity, aggression, and speed of Hardcore Punk, as well as the abrasiveness of Noise Rock. Screamo, like Math Rock, is known for its unconventional structure, with frequent changes in tempo and rhythm.
This is a list of bands that have played screamo at some point in their careers. Screamo is a music genre which predominantly evolved from emo, among other genres, in the early 1990s.
