The museum is now open! Mon-Thurs 9am-2pm. This museum was established to report the history of one of Southern Nevada’s most fascinating boomtowns. Searchlight once surpassed Las Vegas in population and came close to being designated as the Clark County seat.
Searchlight, Nevada, is an old mining camp located about an hour south of Las Vegas. It was founded when gold was discovered in 1897. As word spread, the camp and surrounding area was flooded with miners. Two years later a 16-mile narrow gauge railroad from the mines was established.

The Searchlight Historic Museum is housed inside the Searchlight Community Center located at 200 Michael Wendell Way, Searchlight, Nevada. This Museum is a satellite of the Clark County Museum. Museum hours are 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday thru Friday, and 9:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturdays.
