The section B questions are based on a number of purposes: writing to argue, persuade, inform, explain and describe are the most common ones. However, there is one great set of linguistic devices which applies to all of these: DAFOREST. Here are some typical questions you might see in Section B of the exam:
Both exams are 1 hour and 45 minutes long and contain two sections: Section A: Reading = 40 marks Section B: Writing = 40 marks Each paper is worth 80 marks and makes up 50% of the overall grade for GCSE Language.
Section B: Writing – Write creatively (40marks) Spend 45 minutes . There will be two questions and you choose one. You should write creatively.
