2 Αυγ 2023 · Semimembranosus is a relatively large muscle that originates from a small facet on the rough superolateral surface of the ischial tuberosity. The tendon of semimembranosus appears at the level of the mid-thigh and continues caudally toward the point of insertion at the medial condyle of the tibia.
Objective To describe the normal MR anatomy and variations of the distal semimembranosus tendinous arms and the posterior oblique ligament as seen in the three orthogonal planes, to review the biomechanics of this complex and to illustrate pathologic examples.
semimembranosus muscle (musculus semimembranosus). It is exclusively tibial with its three tendons rendering the muscle functional, whatever the position of the knee may be. There are other attachments, sometimes de- scribed are merely expansions extending to the menisco-
Normal anatomy and variants The distal semimembranosus tendon divides into five tendinous branches or arms at approximately the level of the joint line: (1) the anterior or tibial arm, (2) the direct arm, (3) the inferior or popliteal arm, (4) the capsular arm and (5) the oblique popliteal ligament (OPL) (Fig. 1) [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6].

5 Ιουν 2021 · The semimembranosus muscle is one of the hamstring muscles in the posterior compartment of the thigh and accompanies the semitendinosus muscle in the medial aspect of the posterior thigh. It is named for its flattened membranous tendon of its ischial attachment.
