Charles Ellis Schumer (/ ˈʃuːmər / SHOO-mər; born November 23, 1950) is an American politician serving as Senate Majority Leader since 2021 [1] and as a United States senator from New York since 1999. A member of the Democratic Party, he has led the Senate Democratic Caucus since 2017 and was Senate Minority Leader from 2017 to 2021.
In 2022, Chuck was re-elected by the people of New York to an unprecedented fifth term. As senator, Chuck has made it a hallmark of his career to protect the middle class and those working to reach it. He continues that mission every day as leader of the Senate Democratic Majority.
