  1. 19 Ιαν 2018 · The objectives of the present study were to determine the prevalence of overweight in cats from two different cohorts in a cross-sectional study design and to assess associations between overweight and diagnoses, and between overweight and demographic and environmental factors.

  5. 1 Σεπ 2014 · A recent study found a high prevalence of overweight (BCS >5/9) in purebred cats at a cat show. Certain breeds (eg, British shorthair, Maine coon and Norwegian forest cat) had significantly higher BCS than other breeds (eg, Cornish rex, Abyssinian and sphynx).

  6. At enrolment, owners frequently reported physical changes (53%), behavioral changes (47%), changes to eating patterns (41%), and activity changes (40%) in their mature cats. On physical examination, 45% cats were in overweight condition and 12% were obese.

  7. 25 Ιουλ 2018 · Results. At baseline, median age was 72 months (range 12–200 months) and median BCS was 8 (range 7–9). In all, 402/413 cats (97%) lost weight (mean 10.6±6.3%) during the programme at a rate of 0.8 ±0.50%/week. Based upon owner questionnaires, activity and QOL improved (both P <0.001), while begging behaviour decreased (P< 0.001) during weight loss.
