26 Μαΐ 2006 · So Paul’s general point is that salvation now comes to everyone who believes–Jew or Gentile. It is a gift we receive by believing from the heart in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. That belief expresses itself in calling upon the name of the Lord (v. 13). To call on the Lord in Paul’s mind is the same as believing in him.
The object of faith – Christ. His death for sin. His resurrection for life. The historical facts. Death. Resurrection – 1Co 15; Rom 1:4. The content of faith. “He that believes in his heart that God raised Him from the dead shall be saved” – Rom 10:9. The message of the Book of Acts.
Proper Christian living should never be the fundamental grounds for assurance of salvation. Rather, assurance of salvation which should rest in the merit and sufficiency of the Savior and the believer’s new life in Christ, must be the fundamental basis for proper Christian living.
Can a person be assured that they are saved or is salvation something that only God can know? In his sermon on Romans 10:9–10 titled “Assurance of Salvation,” Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones answers these questions by bringing the listener to Scripture.
3. NOW'S THE TIME TO START WALKING (V. 13). Once you've woken up, and once you've gotten dressed, it's time to get out the door. And so, Paul issues the call in verse 13, "Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy."
The Bible teaches that the assurance of salvation rests securely upon four unshakable pillars: Pillar 1: God Cannot Lie! First, assurance is based on the absolute trustworthiness of Scripture. Throughout the New Testament, we read God’s promises to save all who will believe upon His Son.
