8 Αυγ 2013 · At the beginning of Acts 12, we have James dead, Peter in prison, and the tyrant Herod basking in his popularity and power. At the end of the chapter, we have Peter free, Herod eaten by worms and dead, and the Word of God growing and multiplying. Luke is showing us that the gospel is unstoppable.
Stephen F. Olford. The most dramatic New Testament story concerning partnership and prayer is recorded for us in the 12th chapter of Acts. Here King Herod, representing the subtle, fearful, and overwhelming power of the devil, is pictured in opposition to a church or a fellowship at prayer.

Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praise. 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up.
