In adult, non-healthy populations, a ferritin concentration exceeding 500 μg/L may indicate risk of iron overload or other disease. This cut-off value indicates the need for further clinical and laboratory evaluation to establish the diagnosis and underlying cause of the ferritin levels.
Elevated levels of ferritin may help identify individuals at high risk of T2DM. Further research is warranted to establish causality of these associations and to ascertain which patients are likely to benefit from lifestyle or therapeutic interventions.
An A1C level of 9% equates to an eAG of 212 mg/dL (11.8 mmol/L). What is a normal A1C? For people without diabetes, a normal A1C is below 5.7%. For people with diabetes, what’s “normal” and healthy for you depends on your goals and access to diabetes management medication and tools.
3 Αυγ 2015 · Normal serum ferritin levels vary between laboratories but generally concentrations >300 µg/L in men and postmenopausal women and >200 µg/L in premenopausal women are regarded as elevated. 1 Low ferritin values provide absolute evidence of iron deficiency. 2 Raised levels often indicate iron overload, but they are not specific, as ferritin is ...
1 Νοε 2004 · RESULTS —Serum ferritin levels in group A were significantly higher than in the other groups (A > B, P < 0.01; A > C, P < 0.001; A > D, P < 0.001). Ferritin levels were higher in group B than in group D (P = 0.001). However, group C has ferritin values similar to those of group D.
1 Ιουλ 2007 · Among cases of incident diabetes, the mean concentration of serum ferritin was significantly higher compared with control subjects, and the mean ratio of transferrin receptors to ferritin was significantly lower.
1 Οκτ 2004 · Mean levels of serum ferritin were significantly lower in premenopausal women 33.6 μg/l (95% CI 31.5–35.8) compared with postmenopausal women 93.4 μg/l (87.9–99.2) and lower in postmenopausal women compared with men 139.9 μg/l (133.6–146.6).
