7 Ιουν 2021 · Sesamoid injuries of the Hallux consist of a constellation of injuries to the sesamoid complex consisting of fractures, tendonitis, and ligamentous injuries. Diagnosis is suspected with hallux pain that is worse with hyperextension and can be confirmed with MRI studies.
In this procedure, the provider performs closed treatment of a sesamoid bone fracture in the foot. Sesamoid bones are small irregular bones present within a muscle tendon or capsule. In the foot, the most common location of a sesamoid bone is the underside of the ball of the foot under the great toe.

CPT code 28530 should be used when a patient has a sesamoid bone fracture in the foot that is treated using closed methods. This code is appropriate when the provider performs closed reduction of the fracture and applies a splint or brace for four weeks.
