Copy enough sets of the timeline activity ‘Key events of the Middle Ages: Student A & B timelines for Task 4’. Each student needs a copy of either sheet A or sheet B. There is also a PowerPoint file, ‘Key events of the Middle Ages: Images’ with the six images from the lesson.
The time period in history from 500 AD to 1,500 AD in Europe is referred to as the Middle Ages. This time period also carries a few different names (Dark Ages and Medieval Times), they are all the same period.

Some of the Seven Wonders of the Middle Ages actually existed before the Middle Ages but did not become well-known until the Middle Ages. The Seven Wonders of the Middle Ages are: Stonehenge. The Roman Coliseum. The Catacombs. The Great Wall of China. The Porcelain Tower of Nanjing.
Students fill in the missing dates to complete this medieval timeline of events from the "Dark" Ages (circa 400–1000), the High Middle Ages (1000–1300), and the Late Middle Ages (1300–1500). They also color a map to show Charlemagne's Empire and the Holy Roman Empire.
