1 Μαρ 2021 · The mission of the Department of Athletics at San Francisco State University is to provide a broad-based NCAA Division II intercollegiate athletics program that fosters the physical, intellectual, social, and emotional development of a diverse and highly skilled group of student-athletes.
The San Francisco State Gators are the athletic teams that compete at San Francisco State University in San Francisco, California.The nickname applies to the college's intercollegiate NCAA Division II teams. The nickname was published in the student newspaper, "The Leaf", [2] but was long referred to in media alternatively as the "Staters" [3] and the "Golden Gaters". [4]
The department offers 12 intercollegiate sports programs to 350 students: Baseball, Men's and Women's Basketball, Men's and Women's Cross Country, Men's and Women's Soccer, Softball, Women's Track & Field, Women's Volleyball, and Men's Wrestling.
2 Σεπ 2022 · San Francisco State University Athletics is pleased to announce the induction of six individual Gator standouts and one team into the San Francisco State Athletics Hall of Fame.
9 Ιουλ 2024 · The culture change in SAAC is representative of a wider shift that has redefined the ethos of Gator Athletics. Stephanie Shrieve-Hawkins, Director of SF State Athletics since 2018, has devoted herself to creating a “culture of belonging” in the department, with a focus on inclusiveness and achievement rather than competitiveness.
