Our tax and finance staff supported the filing of around 42,600 tax returns in 2022. We aim to adhere to international best practices and aim for accuracy and timeliness when we fulfil our tax filing obligations.
Our people. The employee numbers for 2019–21 reflect headcount in the Shell Human Resources (HR) system and full-time equivalent numbers for portfolio companies, which maintain their own HR systems. This includes the Shell Global Helpline, trade unions and staff forums and council.
Shell measured its 2019 socio-economic contributions by using 12 metrics related to employment, supply chain, taxes, social investment, contribution to GDP. The 5 countries are: India, the Netherlands, Nigeria, the United Kingdom and the United States. The assessment is based on 2019 (calendar year) performance data.
