William Shelton died of pneumonia February 11, 1938, in Everett. He was buried in Mission Beach Cemetery at Tulalip only four years after the Indian Reorganization Act of 1934 began to allow tribal self-government.
Shelton died on 21 December 1539 [12] at the age of 62, and was buried in the chancel of Shelton church. He was said to have been "a man of great possessions", which he sought to pass on to his heirs contrary to the Statute of Uses.
