Shijing (The Classic of Poetry, or the Book of Odes) is the earliest existing anthology of poetry in China. It comprises 305 poems dating from the beginning of the Western Zhou period (1046–771 BCE) to the mid-Spring and Autumn period ( approx. 771 - 476 BCE ).
The Book of Odes. This selection of poems from the Chinese Book of Odes appeared in the Wisdom of the East series. The Book of Odes, or Shih Ching, is one of the Five Classics from ancient China. A complete translation by Legge is also available at this site.
