The author’s research for the period 2004–2011 showed a large number of unfortunate events caused by lack of adequate provision of nautical charts, shortage of accurate position systems on board vessels as well as weak technical condition of these vessels.

Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum was founded in 1966. Explore our exhibits, ship models, paintings, maritime antiques, and interpretations of the rich story of Savannah's illustrious maritime history.
The star of Ship's of the Sea Museum is the impressive model ship collection including The City of Savannah, The Anne, The Steamship Savannah, The Wanderer, and The Titanic. All of these ships (except The Titanic) have a direct connection to Savannah and the Georgia coast.
Ships of the Sea is only one block west of City Market and a few blocks north of the Visitor Center. Free parking is available for guests in the Museum's parking lot located on the south side of the building. To view a Google map of the Museum's location please click here.
