Home Exercise Program after Reverse Total Shoulder Arthroplasty Most patients using a home exercise program should perform their exercises 3-4 times per day. Stage 1: Begin immediately. Pulley exercises Hang your pulleys over a door and face the door. Use the good arm to raise the operated upon arm as high as you are able.
PHASE IV: TRANSITIONAL POST-OP (9-11 WEEKS AFTER SURGERY) Rehabilitation Goals • Maintain pain-free ROM • Progress periscapular strengthening • Progress deltoid strengthening • Progress motor control exercise • Improve dynamic shoulder stability • Gradually restore shoulder strength and endurance
This handout has information about your reverse total shoulder replacement and the exercises you will need to do after your surgery. No active motion of shoulder. Wear sling at all times. Only move elbow, wrist and hand while wearing sling. (See exercises below)

After reverse total shoulder arthroplasty (total shoulder replacement) surgery, patients are instructed to complete these post-operative exercises to help restore motion and flexibility in their shoulder.
All exercises should be done 3 to 5 times a day as your pain allows. Absolutely NO lifting. Avoid too much early active use. Bend and straighten elbow. Use your opposite arm to assist with the movement of the affected arm initially. 2. Passive Shoulder Flexion. Place hands on top of a bench or chair at waist height.
