The shrimp have three general body parts: head, thorax, and abdomen. The body of the shrimp has 19 parts, 5 parts are related to the head, 8 parts are related to the thorax and 6 parts are related to the abdominal part. The tail segment is connected to the sixth abdominal segment.
9 Απρ 2023 · The segmental shrimp body of 19 somites is divided into a cephalothorax, protected by the carapace, and abdomen. Gills vary in structure (dendro-, phyllo-, and trichobranchs) among major shrimp taxa, as well as position (podo-, arthro-, and pleurobranchs) within the gill chamber.
Life Cycle of P. vannamei: The white leg shrimp, penaeid shrimp has six pairs segments. The swimming P. vannamei (Figure 1) is native to the Eastern Pacific coast of Mexico and Northern Peru. This species likes areas where water temperatures are usually over 25°C the whole year. The female shrimp grow faster than males.
9 Απρ 2023 · The mantis shrimps (stomatopods: Order Hoplocarida) have an incipient caridoid body form (Fig. 1.4f) in which the abdomen is large but with a poorly developed caridoid musculature. Unlike the true shrimps, the stomatopod abdomen has room for internal organs such as the gonads and digestive ceca.
The female shrimp releases ova through a gono-pore which opens through labiate structures between the third walking legs. Fertilization takes place on the thelycum, a structure made up of modified sternal plates on the fourth and fifth thoracic segments.
