The Siberian Cranes’ migration flyway extends over several thousand kilometres taking the cranes across many invisible national borders that did not exist when their ancestors first made this epic journey.

1 Αυγ 2002 · According to tracking data, Siberian Cranes started and ended autumn migration on 23 September and 19 November, respectively. Spring migration started on 8 April and ended on 4 June.
1 Οκτ 2023 · The images cover spring, summer, and autumn for each year from 1984 to 2020. The time of images for each season was based on the migration pattern of Siberian cranes (Wen et al., 2021). The spring time was selected from April to May, which is the peak of spring migration for Siberian cranes.
Among the cranes, they make the longest distance migrations. Their populations, particularly those in the western range, have declined drastically in the 20th century due to hunting along their migration routes and habitat degradation.
1 Αυγ 2002 · One Siberian Crane was satellite-tracked from the south Caspian Sea to its breeding grounds in Russia during the spring of 1996, and rested primarily at the eastern end of the Volga River delta, which suggests that the delta may be an important resting site for Siberian Crane.
