Silicon tetrafluoride or tetrafluorosilane is a chemical compound with the formula Si F 4. This colorless gas is notable for having a narrow liquid range: its boiling point is only 4 °C above its melting point.
Boiling point: -86°C. Density: 4.6 kg dm -3 (gas) The following are some synonyms of silicon tetrafluoride: silicon tetrafluoride. silicon (IV) fluoride. silicon fluoride. tetrafluorosilane. The oxidation number of silicon in silicon tetrafluoride is 4. Synthesis. Not available. Element analysis.
However, their boiling points are −38 °C and −86 °C, respectively, giving $\ce{SF4}$ the higher boiling point. I can justify that $\ce{SF4}$ has the higher boiling point because it is more polar since its Lewis structure has a lone pair on the sulfur atom, and so it experiences greater dipole-dipole forces.
