Silicone gel sheeting is a soft and flexible wound dressing containing an elastic form of silicone. It has a soft, rubbery texture and can be easily attached to the skin. Silicone gel sheeting is thought to be an optimal option in the treatment of keloid scars.

Silicone gel reduces itching and discomfort associated with scars. The advantages of silicon gel include easyadministration, even for sensitive skin and in children. It can be applied for any irregular skin or scar surfaces, the face, moving parts (joints and flexures) and any size of scars.
Silicone dressings have been used to treat hypertrophic scars and keloids since 1983. This treatment modality is considered to be safe and efficacious, leading to a progressive improvement in scar color, size, erythema, pliability, pain, and itching.
