Just recently my computer had to be reset and updated to windows. Since then I had re downloaded my base game and all my expansion packs, but I just can't play my game. The launcher opens up fine but after I click play I'm stuck with a black screen and endlessly spinning loading sign.
Try reinstalling DirectX 9. You don't need to uninstall anything; just download the installer from Microsoft and run it. https://www.microsoft.com/en-US/download/details.aspx?id=8109. Restart your computer afterwards and before trying to play. If that doesn't help, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.
I can open my sims 3 launcher fine, but when I press play my screen goes black and then closes itself. I've had this problem before but it usually fixes itself with a computer restart. I have deleted all of my cc, uninstalled and reinstalled the sims 3 twice, and repaired the files through origin.
Installing the Sims went smoothly, but it won't start. The Launcher does, but after hitting play button the process just vanishes from the task manager and nothing happens. Nothing seems to happen at all if I try from the TS3W.exe directly. I install from disc pre-origin. That had worked flawlessly on my computers before, even on a Windows 10 one.
The quick way to check if this is happening is to disable custom content in the launcher and try the game again. Exit the Sims 3 launcher completely. Restart it, then click on Installed Content. Check the box beside Run without custom content. You’ll see a pop-up warning, click on OK to continue.
The game seems to play okay on 10 though I have noticed some minor problems with the launcher and wonder if there is anything I can do to tweak it. I usually "save as" after I've finished playing then "quit".
