So if you'd like to keep troubleshooting in the interim, I'd suggest doing a clean uninstall and reinstall of Sims 4 and the EA App using Revo Uninstaller (the free version is fine). Here's how: Put aside your Sims 4 folder in Documents\Electronic Arts and rename it to something that doesn't include the words "Sims 4." Download Revo from here.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled. did not work. I'm kinda lost on what to do here. i was originally playing it on steam but then transferred back to just EA because i was experiencing the same issues over there.

Update your DLCs: Open the Sims 4 Updater folder and Run the Updater by clicking Sims-4-Updater. Then, browse to your folder of installation and install the DLCs.
18 Νοε 2019 · Download, update, repair your game and add missing DLC’s. “Wizard” Anadius came up with a program enabling you to update and repair your game with just a few mouse-clicks. Language files will be installed if not already present.
Now, drag all those DLC folders into the “the sims 4 packs” folder. Next, download and open the DLC Unlocker V1 and run the fix origin.client.command. Now, open origin, and go offline.
