The overall goal of the research is to bridge the gap between model design & development and model verification & validation in a modeling and simulation procedure which, as a whole, is essential for the application of modeling and simulation techniques to understand any real-world system.
Modeling and simulation (M&S) is the use of models (e.g., physical, mathematical, behavioral, or logical representation of a system, entity, phenomenon, or process) as a basis for simulations to develop data utilized for managerial or technical decision making.
This subject provides an introduction to modeling and simulation, covering continuum methods, atomistic and molecular simulation, and quantum mechanics. Hands-on training is provided in the fundamentals and applications of these methods to key engineering problems.
