8 Αυγ 2008 · To characterize nocturnal event histories in the sleep hypnogram, two distinct methods were employed: multistate survival analysis and log-linear models.
In spite of normal sleep cycling and only minor disruption of sleep continuity, the hypnogram clearly illustrates a consistent pattern of REM-related hypoxemia during sleep due to central and obstructive apneas. View chapter Explore book.
1 Δεκ 2023 · Overall, the presence of REM, N2, sleep cycles, and N3 were associated with a normal sleep structure by experts. In contrast, wake, N1, and overall sleep fragmentation (i.e. a high amount of sleep stage changes per hour) contributed to an evaluation of an abnormal hypnogram.
On a hypnogram, a sleep cycle is usually around 90 minutes and there are four to six cycles of REM/NREM stages that occur during a major period of sleep. Most SWS occurs in the first one or two cycles; this is the deepest period of sleep.
conclusions: The description of sleep continuity with log-linear and multistate analysis of the sleep hypnogram suggests that such meth-ods can identify differences in sleep structure that are not evident with conventional sleep-stage summaries.
As displayed in the hypnogram in Figure 1(b), every night's sleep progresses through several such ∼90-min-long NREMS–REMS cycles, with NREMS predominating in the evening cycles (∼75/15 min) and REMS increasing in the morning cycles (∼60/30 min). NREMS in the morning cycles do not reach stage 4 (delta waves), and the longest part of a ...
1 Σεπ 2015 · This analysis indicates that as SDB severity increases, waking up from Stage 1 or 2 and going from sleep to a lighter sleep (Stage 2 to Stage 1) happen at increasingly quicker rates while the rates of getting deep sleep and REM from the most common Stage 2 decrease.
