Image is a quarterly journal publishing poetry, fiction, longer essays, interviews, work in translation, and artist profiles. We welcome unsolicited submissions and consider all submissions carefully.
Free submissions open on the 1st of each month. If there is no free link, we’ve hit our quota. We close tip-jar submissions mid-month. (Exceptions include September, when we run our contest, and December, when we are closed.) We prefer stories under 3,000 words but will consider up to 5,000 words. We love flash and micro!

If you write fantasy, science fiction, horror or even just stories that feature imaginative, unreal elements, here are some great places to submit your work. And because prose writers shouldn’t have all the fun, we’ve made sure to include some outlets for speculative-themed poetry.

One submission is permitted per quarterly. This means that you may only enter your work into one category. Your submission will be considered for the upcoming issue only. Within each category, you may only submit one piece of work, unless you are submitting poetry or artwork.

We accept flash fiction and short story submissions up to 3,000 words. Radon pays a semi-professional rate of 2¢ per word for original work and 1¢ for reprints. For quicker processing, please use a submission style similar to the modern manuscript format .
