0.9% Sodium Chloride Injection, USP is a sterile, nonpyrogenic solution for fluid and electrolyte replenishment in single dose containers for intravenous administration. The composition, osmolarity, approximate pH range and ionic concentration of 0.9% Sodium Chloride Injection, USP are shown in Table 1. Table 1.
In this dosage form, Sodium Chloride Injection, USP is intended to be used as a diluent for the contents of an ADD-Vantage vial, or single-dose vials with 20 mm closure using the ADD-Vantage ADDAPTOR™. The dose is dependent upon the age, weight and clinical condition of the patient.
0.9% Sodium Chloride Injection USP is indicated for extracellular fluid replacement, treatment of metabolic alkalosis in the presence of fluid loss and mild sodium depletion.

The osmolarity is 308 mOsmol/L (calc.). The pH in the 100 mL and smaller containers is 6.0; for the 250 mL and larger containers, the pH is 5.6.
