Children may present with impaired coordination or balance, weakness, paralysis of an arm or a leg, loss of sensation in a body part, seizures, unresponsiveness, blindness, double vision, deafness, aphonia, difficulty swallowing, sensation of a lump in the throat, or urinary retention.

11 Φεβ 2017 · Somatic symptom disorder (SSD) is a common disorder encountered in pediatric medicine. It involves the presentation of physical symptoms that are either disproportionate or inconsistent with history, physical examination, laboratory, and other investigative findings.
Somatic Symptom and Related Disorders (SSRDs) are commonly encountered in pediatric hospital settings. There is however a lack of standardization of care across institutions for youth with these disorders. These patients are diagnostically and psychosocially complex, posing significant challenges for medical and behavioral healthcare providers.
INTRODUCTION. Somatoform disorders are characterized by the repeated subjective experience of physical symptoms (hereafter somatoform symptoms) which are not explained by any physical disease. The types of somatoform disorders in International Classification of Diseases-10 (ICD-10) are listed in Table 1.
