18 Μαΐ 2010 · This chapter provides a brief introduction to the physical nature of sound, the manner in which it is transmitted and transformed within the ear, and the nature of auditory neural responses. The nature of auditory stimuli.
9 Ιουλ 2024 · When a sound source is positioned to the side of the head, one of the ears is more exposed to it. The presence of the head produces a shadowing effect on the sound in the direction of propagation (sometimes referred to as HSE – head-shadow effect).
It covers many topics including sound and the auditory system, locating sound sources, the basis for loudness judgments, perception of acoustic sequences, perceptual restoration of obliterated sounds, speech production and perception, and the relation of hearing to perception in general.
14 Ιουλ 2005 · Seen macroscopically, the propagation of sound is the propagation of a compression in the medium followed by a depression, that is, the propagation of a wave. The behavior of each particle is described by a sinusoid that maps the cyclical pattern of compressions and depressions against time.
In chapter 8, we expand on the concept of the sonic aggregate as a means to model sound. Within this aggregate, we identify two groups of components that we label the exosonus and the endosonus, referring respectively to components either outside the brain or inside it.
10 Δεκ 2015 · ‘The nature of sound’ considers the physical aspects of sound, which are far better understood than the emotional ones. It discusses pressure waves; how sound is carried; the velocity, refraction, frequency, and diffraction of sound; the power of sound, including loudness and the decibel measurement system; standing waves and resonances ...
12 Μαρ 2024 · Introduction. Auditory perception research is divided on which representations underlie auditory experience. The perceptual approach 1 aims to segregate the proximal auditory stimulus into its...
