30 Ιαν 2024 · Several people were rescued from fast-rising floodwaters on Monday night as thunderstorms rolled over south-east Queensland. Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) carried out 13 swiftwater rescues, including evacuations in the Moreton Bay suburb of Bray Park where residents woke up to water inundating their homes.

Multiple communities remained on high alert for flooding across Queensland overnight as the fallout from heavy rainfall continues. Rivers are swollen and in some places expected to peak near major flood levels today. There were three major flood warnings still in place, the Bureau of Meteorology said in its update at 10.36pm AEST (11.36pm AEDT).
The threat of dangerous flooding has returned as heavy rain batters parts of south-east Queensland in a soggy start to the new year.
