Nature Map Explorer provides a set of integrated global maps on biodiversity and ecosystems services based on the best available scientific data. This geoportal has been specifically designed to allow users to explore and provide feedback on set of global maps produced by the Nature Map initiative.
The map introduces 539 different animal species. The simple symbolic presentation of relevant information such as size, weight, feeding and other habits for each individual species makes it especially attractive and educational for all those interested in the diverse and extensive animal world.

Global maps found here include many of terrestrial and marine animals. These are based on data from the IUCN (mammals and amphibians) and BirdLife International (birds). For the USA, you will find more detailed maps summarizing all the terrestrial vertebrates, freshwater fish, and trees, as well as a map of conservation priorities for the country.
