10 Σεπ 2012 · I understand 'spicks' as a made-up word to go with specks which would be understood as having about the same meaning: "a small particle, a fragment". The formation may have been influenced by the alliteration of the phrase spick and span, but I don't think there is any allusion to the meaning (very clean).
