2 ημέρες πριν · Taking inspiration from New York’s Central Park, Golden Gate Park would be over 1,000 acres and filled with lakes, gardens, walking paths, and special attractions. William Hall and his assistant, John McLaren, began transforming the dunes into a park. They planted new trees and non-native grasses to stabilize the area.
Lush Golden Gate Park, foggy Sunset, hilly Richmond, and the steep cliffs of Lands End make up The Avenues of western San Francisco.
Today, the park is home to some of San Francisco's most-visited attractions, including the Japanese Tea Garden, the San Francisco Botanical Garden, the de Young Museum, and the California Academy of Sciences.
