The Spill Response Guidance manual was designed for New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) spill responders and engineers. It also may be of use to environmental consultants, contractors, home and business owners and attorneys.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requires that (1) spill catchment basins (i.e., spill buckets) and (2) containment sumps (i.e., tank-top, transition, and under-dispenser containment) used for interstitial monitoring of piping, be periodically tested to ensure that the equipment is liquid-tight. (40 CFR Part 280.35).
This procedure is to test the leak integrity of single- and double-walled spill buckets. See PEI/RP1200 Section 6.2 for hydrostatic test method, Section 6.3 for single-walled vacuum test method and Section 6.4 for double-walled vacuum test method.
Take the RP1200-19 Online Test. The PEI Overfill, Leak Detection and Release Prevention Equipment Testing Committee developed Recommended Practices for the Testing and Verification of Spill, Overfill, Leak Detection and Secondary Containment Equipment at UST Facilities, PEI/RP1200.
13 Ιουν 2024 · You need a way to remove liquid from spill buckets. Manufacturers may equip spill buckets with either a pump or drain to remove liquid. Or you can purchase a spark free hand pump. You should try to keep your spill bucket clean and empty.

7 Αυγ 2012 · Spill Bucket. USTs must have spill buckets at each fill pipe where fuel is delivered into the UST to contain spills that may occur as a result of fuel deliveries. Spill buckets need to be large enough to contain any fuel that may spill when the delivery hose is uncoupled from the fill pipe.
