30 Οκτ 2023 · The cranial accessory nerve has a similar function to the vagus nerve. It carries motor innervation to the pharyngeal constrictors, larynx, and muscles of the soft palate (except tensor veli palatini). The spinal accessory nerve is a purely motor entity. It innervates both the trapezius and the sternocleidomastoid muscles.
The accessory nerve is motor in modality. It terminates part ly in the vagus nerve - therefore it distributes to the pharynx and Iarynx - and partly in the stemocleidomastoid and trape zius muscles. The accessory nerve originates in the spinal cord and in the medulla oblongata.
2 Μαΐ 2024 · The spinal accessory nerve, considered part of the eleventh cranial nerve, provides motor innervation to sternocleidomastoid and trapezius. A comprehensive literature review and two cadaveric...
17 Ιουλ 2023 · The accessory spinal nerve or XI cranial nerve is essential for neck and shoulder movement, the intrinsic musculature of the larynx, and the sensitive afferences of the trapezius and sternocleidomastoid musculature.
8 Ιουν 2016 · Objective: To evaluate the prevalence of variations in the anatomical route of the spinal accessory nerve from the base of the skull to the point where it enters the trapezius muscle. A...
accessory nerve are thought to innervate the palatal, pha-ryngeal, and laryngeal muscles. Some authors have proposed that the true accessory nerve consists only of the spinal root, and that the cra-nial root is independent of it (Kappers et al., 1967; Wiles et al., 2007).
The spinal accessory nerve, considered part of the eleventh cranial nerve, provides motor innervation to sternocleidomastoid and trapezius. A comprehensive literature review and two cadaveric dissections were undertaken. The spinal accessory nerve originates from the spinal accessory nucleus.
