3 Μαΐ 2021 · I'm trying to boot into windows safe mode so that I can run the DDU utility and install the Bootcamp adrenalin drivers (for gaming). When I boot and select the windows partition, I hold 'shift' which brings up the boot options, I select 4 (safe mode), and the login screen flickers, then a black screen, and no response.

3 Answers. Sorted by: 41. You can force boot in safe mode by using msconfig: Click on Start, then Run. In the Run dialog box, type msconfig and press Enter. The msconfig utility will now launch. Click on the Boot tab.
