This is a list of official U.S. state, federal district, and territory amphibians. State amphibians are designated by tradition or the respective state legislatures. [1] As of 2023, only 28 states and one territory have a state amphibian.
The National Amphibian Atlas provides county-level distribution data for all amphibians in the US. The records are currently being updated. The last major update was 2021.
This page summarizes the state of amphibians in the U.S. and highlights the major factors contributing to declines. Serious declines are occurring in the United States but the number of extinctions is not as extreme as in other parts of the world.
