On March 12, 2024, the State of Michigan adopted the 2021 Michigan Mechanical Code, the 2021 Michigan Plumbing Code, and the 2023 Michigan Electrical Code. Beginning August 1, 2024, these examinations will be based on those new codes.
Three-inch (76 mm) and four-inch (102 mm) decking shall have a maximum moisture content of 19 percent. Decking shall be machined with a double tongue-and-groove pattern. Decking pieces shall be interconnected and nailed to the supports.
Wood-framed decks shall be in accordance with this section or Section R301 for materials and conditions not prescribed herein. Where supported by attachment to an exterior wall, decks shall be positively anchored to the primary structure and designed for both vertical and lateral loads.
The IBC-2015, IECC-2015, IMC-2015, IPC-2015, NFPA 70-2014 listed in chapter 44 govern the construction, alteration, relocation, demolition, use, and occupancy of buildings and structures, and, with exceptions noted, the international residential code is adopted by reference in these rules.
