25 Ιουλ 2023 · After checking out Blue Heron, visit the old Stearns Coal and Lumber Company corporate headquarters (built in 1907) to see artifacts, objects, documents, and photographs from the town’s mining and logging days.
22 Μαΐ 2017 · The old gum tree stood next to the site where the first company store in the brand new town of Stearns, KY would soon be constructed. The Stearns Company was the sole proprietor of its headquarters town, and would govern all aspects of daily life for the residents there.
The Stearns Coal & Lumber Company is a former coal and timber extraction outfit that operated in northeast Tennessee and southeast Kentucky. History. The Stearns Coal & Lumber Company was formed by Justus Stearns, who owned a sawmill and lumber operations in Ludington, Michigan.
28 Οκτ 2009 · It was a state-of-the-art facility when it opened in the late 1930s. The coal was transported to Stearns, a once-booming company town, via the old Kentucky & Tennessee Railroad and then shipped to markets in Cincinnati and Chattanooga.
