A lot of people don't seem to realize that you don't need a smartphone to have 2-factor authentication on your RuneScape account. Jagex themselves made a guide on how to set up a portable authenticator using only a USB stick and a program called WinAuth (I use this myself).
Two factor authentication be like. It makes sense, especially considering the door is already open. I hate this meme because it simply isn't true. You guys are making 2FA look useless when it's a really good security feature with very little flaws.
I recently broke my phone that has my 2 factor authenticator for OSRS login, but i now have a new phone and I can't login to the game without the old one's authenticator code. Is there a way to re-scan my 2 factor QR code on the runescape website or do i need to deactivate it and make a new 2 factor QR to login with?
30 Οκτ 2023 · Two Factor Authentication or 2FA is one of the best ways to secure your account, and it was a game changer when Jagex implemented it for RuneScape. To put it simply, when you have 2FA activated, if you go to log on to your RuneScape account, you will need to enter a six-digit code from an app on your phone before you can do so.
The RuneScape Authenticator is an additional layer of protection players can utilise on their accounts. It replaces the Jagex Account Guardian (JAG), by using an RFC-compliant time-based one-time password (TOTP) compatible with Google Authenticator.
