On August 8th, 2021, the official trailer for the Stone Ocean anime was revealed. The trailer included listings for most of the main cast and the anime's release date, the latter of which indicated the season was set to be premiered around December, 2021, on Netflix W.

An adaptation of the sixth part of the manga, Stone Ocean, the season was officially announced on April 4, 2021 during the JOESTAR The Inherited Soul event, with Fairouz Ai announced as the voice actress for the part’s protagonist Jolyne Cujoh.
