The acquisition of social and emotional skills is associated with positive youth development, character education, healthy lifestyle behaviours, reduction in depression and anxiety, conduct disorders, violence, bullying, conflict, and anger.
Topics covered include promoting emotional well-being, mental health awareness, self-care, supporting friends, reaching out for support, managing substances, self-harm, anger management, the impact of food on mood, stress management, healthy relationships, processing thoughts and feelings, and coping with difficult situations.
The workshops aim to help young people to: Resume normal, routine activities during or in the aftermath of crisis events. Have strong personal and social skills to adapt to and cope with adversities. Feel good about themselves and confident in their own abilities. Make good and safe life choices.
