24 Ιουλ 2024 · To become a librarian in Ohio applicants must be certified and certification requires an MLIS degree from an ALA-accredited program, and two years of library experience. Additionally, librarians need 75 hours of continuing education every five years to hold a certification.
The Master of Library and Information Science degree prepares students to be leaders in the evolving fields of librarianship and information professions.

The Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) program in the School of Information at Kent State University has been continuously reaccredited since 1961. In February 2019, the MLIS program was reaccredited through 2025. It is the only program in the State of Ohio and serves students primarily through our online program.
The online Master of Library and Information Science degree prepares students for professional positions in public, academic, special, and school libraries; archives; museums; and other types of information agencies, organizations, and companies.
