This is an intensive program designed to develop skills to work with Autistic individuals to create behaviour change by increasing skills and decreasing maladaptive behaviours. As a student in the Autism and Behavioural Science program, you will study: autism spectrum disorder (ASD)
Fanshawe’s Autism and Behavioural Science online program is about learning skills to teach skills and decrease challenging behaviours for persons with autism and other disabilities. Students will learn foundational theories of practice in their first five courses followed by four additional courses in application of theories.
Autism and Developmental Disabilities. This concentration is appropriate for students with a special interest in meeting the educational, behavioural, and communication needs of students with autism spectrum disorders or other developmental disabilities (e.g., Down syndrome, cerebral palsy).
This program teaches students how to use behaviour analysis to teach socially significant skills to improve the quality of life for individuals with ASD and other disabilities and their families.
Develop an understanding of evidence-based practices based on the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) for individuals with ASD. Learn how to design, implement and evaluate programs and behavioural intervention plans. Over 300 hours of field placement experience supported by a field placement officer.
Students entering this graduate program will be able to build on their related background of study, obtaining a higher level of specialized knowledge, skill and independence in the areas of assessment and treatment of autism spectrum disorder.
Students in the Autism and Behavioural Sciences graduate certificate program will develop expertise in the collaborative design, implementation and evaluation of effective behavioural intervention plans, according to the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis.
