Subcutaneous Mycoses. Direct inoculation of a fungus into the skin, often by a splinter or other trauma, may result in subcutaneous mycoses. Clinically, subcutaneous mycoses result in an ulcer or verrucous plaque. The most common types are sporotrichosis, mycetoma, chromoblastomycosis, phaeohyphomycosis, and lobomycosis.

17 Μαρ 2023 · Subcutaneous mycosis is defined as a fungal infection associated with the development of a characteristic lesion in the subcutaneous tissue and overlying skin with or without extension to bone and muscle.
Subcutaneous mycoses include a heterogeneous group of fungal infections that develop at the site of transcutaneous trauma. Infection slowly evolves as the etiologic agent survives and adapts to the adverse host tissue environment.
